Register as a Student

Register directly with the Board — for a course at an affiliated institute, or to have skills you already have recognised through RPL.

Before you begin

Three things worth knowing, so nothing here surprises you.

  • Studying at an affiliated institute? Most institutes register their own trainees from their portal. Ask yours first — if they have already entered you, registering again is not needed.

  • Applying through RPL? You need no institute and no certificate. The Board will assign you an assessment centre after your application is reviewed.

  • Have two things ready to upload: a passport-size photograph and a picture of your CNIC or POR card.

Two ways to register

One of these describes you. The form asks the question again and changes what it needs accordingly.

  • Enrol in a course at an affiliated institute

    You are studying, or about to study, at an institute affiliated with the Board. You will need that institute's registration code.

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

    You already do this work and want the skill you have certified. No institute is needed — the Board will assign you an assessment centre.

Have two things ready to upload: a passport-size photograph and a picture of your CNIC or POR card.

    A recent photograph with your face clearly visible. This is the photograph that appears on your certificate.

    CNIC or POR card — front

    A photograph or scan of the front of the card whose number you gave above. The name and number must be readable.

Ask your institute for this. It looks like GBTPE-I-PB-RWP-0001 and is printed on the institute's affiliation certificate.

Who you are

Enter your name exactly as it appears on your CNIC or POR card. This is the name that will be printed on your certificate.

How the Board can reach you

The Board writes to you about your assessment date and your result, so a number you actually answer matters more than a tidy one.

A Pakistani mobile number, for example 0300-1234567.

If you have one. Leave it blank if you do not — it will not affect your application.

What you want to be certified in

Search by trade name or course code. You may list up to 3, in order of preference — if your first choice is full, the Board moves to your second rather than writing to you and waiting.

Anything else you would like to tell the Board

Every field in this section can be left alone. Nothing here is required, and leaving it blank will not weaken your application.

If you hold none, leave this as it is. RPL exists for people who learned their trade at work rather than at school.

JPG, PNG, PDF, up to 2 MB each. A clear photograph taken on a phone is fine — large pictures are shrunk automatically before they are sent.

Your identity number is encrypted before it is stored, and is never shown in full to anyone outside the Board.
