Accessibility Statement
What this website does to be usable by everyone, what it does not yet do, and how to tell us when it fails you.
Our commitment
This is a public service. It has to work for people using a screen reader, people who cannot use a mouse, people with low vision or colour blindness, and people on an old phone over a slow connection. Where it does not, we want to hear about it and we will fix it.
Built against
WCAG 2.2 — Level AA
We aim to meet this standard across the whole site, in both English and Urdu. The known gaps are listed below rather than left for you to discover.
What Is in Place
Every item here is built into the site today, not planned.
Full keyboard operation
Every menu, form, accordion and card can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Whatever has focus shows a visible outline, and that outline is never suppressed anywhere on the site.
High-contrast mode
A switch in the top bar darkens the text, underlines every link, and removes all decorative backgrounds and watermarks. Your choice is remembered and applied before the page paints, so it never flashes.
Adjustable reading size
Three text sizes above the standard, set from the top bar, scaling the entire page rather than a paragraph of it. Urdu is set larger throughout, because Nastaliq reads smaller than Latin at the same size.
Motion can be switched off
If your device is set to reduce motion, every animation on this site stops — backgrounds, card flips, the homepage slider. The slider also has its own pause button and stops on hover or focus.
Colour never carries meaning alone
Every status — approved, pending, rejected — is shown with an icon and a written label as well as a colour, so nothing depends on being able to tell two colours apart.
Both languages, properly marked
The whole site exists in English and Urdu, with the page language and reading direction declared in the markup so screen readers pronounce each correctly. Urdu is laid out right to left throughout, not mirrored as an afterthought.
Known Limitations
These are real and current. They are listed so you know where you may hit difficulty before you hit it.
The Urdu typeface is a large download
The Nastaliq typeface used for Urdu is 5.26 MB. On a slow connection the page appears first in a simpler Arabic face and changes over once the font arrives. The text is readable throughout; only its appearance changes.
The map on the Contact page
The map is supplied by Google and we do not control how accessible it is. The full postal address is written out beside it as text, with a separate link for directions, so no information is available only inside the map.
One photograph is low resolution
A photograph on the leadership page was supplied at a small size and looks soft on a high-resolution screen. It carries a text description, so nothing is lost to anyone using a screen reader.
Documents published by the Board
Notices and forms the Board publishes as PDF are not covered by this statement. A scanned document is an image and cannot be read aloud by a screen reader. If you need any Board document in an accessible format, ask us and we will provide it.
